A Brief Overview of Lift Table Guards
Before we go into the reasons why you would need a lift table safety guard, we should first go over what the guard is and what it does. A lift table guard is used to form a barrier between the operator and the inner scissor mechanism which when exposed is very dangerous. Just like a scissor can cut off your finger, so goes a scissor in a lift table which can cut off your arm or leg. These mechanisms must be covered to prevent accidental placement of hands or feet in harms way. The guarding does just that, it is a visual and physical barrier which when properly installed will eliminate any chance of an operator becoming injured.
While the need for lift table guards is not always understood by companies
and their associates who are responsible for worker safety. They are non the less a critical piece of safety equipment that when absent can result in serious injuries. One reason for the lack of knowledge on this safety device could be the result of the lack of enforcement from OSHA. OSHA has the ability to place finicial penalties on companies for not being safety compliant. Such fines would bring awareness to the need for this safety device, and then as a result prevent a substantial number of injuries.

You can see that there are several major ramifications that result from not properly guarding your equipment. Some are of greater consiquence than others, but they are all detrimental to the health of your organization. So make the right decision, and ensure that all of your lift tables are properly guarded to keep your workers safe.
